How to Clean Grab Bars

Cleaning Instructions

Keeping grab bars clean is simple and essential for maintaining their appearance and ensuring a sanitary environment.

Follow these steps to clean and maintain the look of stainless steel grab bars:

Removing Dirt & Grime

Use a soft cloth to wash all surfaces with a mild dishwashing liquid soap or powdered detergent, ammonia, and warm water. Rinse with clear water, wipe with a damp sponge, and dry.

Removing Smears & Fingerprints

Use Arcal 20, Lac-O-Nu, Lumin Wash, O’Cedar Cream Polish, or Stainless Shine. Follow the package directions, rubbing the surface with a cloth.

Removing Rust

Important Note on Cleaning Agents

Avoid harsh chemicals on stainless steel grab bars, which can cause permanent damage. If muriatic acid or similar hydrochloric-acid cleaners are used, they must be immediately neutralized and thoroughly scrubbed with clean water.

Do Not Use the Following Agents on Stainless Steel Grab Bars

  • Abrasive powders or scouring pads
  • Toilet bowl cleaners
  • Ceramic tile cleaners
  • Solutions containing aggressive acid (e.g., Lime-A-Way, Soft Scrub, Tilex, etc.)
