Installation Scope & Methods Policy
What We Install
What We Install (Scope)
- Grab bars only: Straight, concealed-mount, indoor use.
- Typical locations: Showers, tubs, and near toilets; final placement confirmed on site.
- Not included: Wall repair/repaint, tile replacement, plumbing/electrical work, or demolition beyond small anchor holes.
Surfaces We Work On
- Drywall: Fastened directly into studs whenever accessible.
- Tile/Stone/Glass over backer: Anchored into studs when possible. Where studs aren’t reachable, we use rated specialty anchors engineered for these substrates (non-rotating fittings, corrosion-resistant hardware).
- Other/Non-standard substrates: (e.g., plaster, acrylic/fiberglass surrounds, masonry, metal studs, glass panels) evaluated on site; may require special hardware, extra labor, or a separate quote.
Methods & Standards
- Placement & height: Aligned to best-practice ranges with ADA/TAS-informed recommendations (e.g., ~33–36″ to top of gripping surface) and personalized for user height/reach when safe.
- Fastening & strength: Bars installed to be non-rotating in their fittings and mounted to resist at least 250 lb when properly used.
- Process: Locate studs/backing → mark → dry-fit → drill with substrate-appropriate bits → deburr → set hardware → seat covers flush.
- Moisture control: Where appropriate (showers/tubs), a discreet sealant bead is applied at penetrations.
- Commercial/public work: We follow 2010 ADA §609 / TAS where required (owner specifies when a space is subject to public/commercial standards).
Hidden Conditions & Limits
- We use standard locating tools (stud/metal detection, non-contact voltage checks), but concealed utilities/voids can exist. We’re not responsible for hidden or disclosed conditions such as radiant heat, plumbing/electrical in wall, inadequate backing, hollow spots, or pre-existing cracks.
- Structural capacity of the wall assembly must support the intended load; anchors can’t compensate for weak, damaged, or delaminated substrates.
- Right to decline/stop: If conditions appear unsafe or excessively risky, we may decline or stop work at our discretion.
Tile/Stone/Glass Risk (Read Before We Drill)
Even with proper bits, speed, and cooling, micro-chips, spalls, or cracks can occur in brittle finishes. By proceeding, you acknowledge this inherent risk and agree that any repair or replacement of tile/stone/glass—including matching tile, grout, waterproofing, and related wall assemblies—is the homeowner’s responsibility. We can refer third-party pros on request.
Site Prep & Access
- Clear 3–4 ft around the work area; remove toiletries and shower curtains/doors if easily removable.
- Secure pets.
- Ensure a responsible adult (18+) is present to approve final locations.
- Disclosures: Tell us about known utilities, radiant heat, unusual substrates, prior water damage, or previous repairs.
Cleanup
We protect floors/fixtures with drop cloths and vacuum work areas. Fine dust may remain, especially after tile/stone drilling; light wipe-down and ventilation afterward are recommended. Packaging and job debris are hauled away.
Aftercare
Clean with mild soap and water; avoid chlorides/bleach/acidic cleaners. Inspect periodically and contact us if anything changes.
Warranty & Guarantee (Summary)
- Lifetime Installation Guarantee: If a bar loosens due to our workmanship, we’ll fix it at no charge for as long as you own the home.
- Product Warranty: Covered by the manufacturer’s limited warranty (varies by brand/finish). We’ll help with claims.
- Exclusions: Abuse/overloading, third-party alterations, chemical damage, or misuse void the installation guarantee.
Insurance
We carry general liability insurance; proof available on request.
Legal
- Local compliance: We follow applicable codes when required; permitting/inspections for commercial work are the owner’s responsibility unless our contract states otherwise.
- Limitation of liability: To the maximum extent permitted by law, our total liability is capped at the amount you paid for the installation service; we are not liable for indirect or consequential damages.
- Indemnity: You agree to hold us harmless for claims arising from misuse or third-party alterations, except for our gross negligence or willful misconduct.
